Biggest Tire You Can Fit on a Stock Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Wrangler is one of the most prominent SUVs in America. People love Jeep for its relatively compact size, high off-road capabilities, and unique outlook. Wrangler is valued for its classic design, the possibility to remove doors and roofs, and a wide specter of customization.

The most common upgrade for Jeep Wrangler is the installation of bigger tires either for the aesthetic side or more for offroading features.

Many Wrangler owners wonder: what is the biggest tire size that can be mounted on a stock Jeep Wrangler?

Considering that Jeep has many trims, there is no universal answer. Most Wranglers come off the factory line with stock tire sizes from 29 to 32 inches.

A 33-inch tire can go on a Wrangler without rubbing or requiring any modifications to the suspension.

While browsing various Jeep forums, we`ve noticed that some devoted Wrangler enthusiasts managed to install 34 and 35-inch tires on their stock Jeeps. Such sizes fit wheel wells and don’t cause any fenders rubbing.

Some owners of the stock Wranglers went even further and mounted a 37-inch tire!

However, only unmodified 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392, 2020-2022 Unlimited Rubicon, Unlimited Rubicon 392,2018 Unlimited Rubicon, and Unlimited Sport are capable of accommodating such a tire size.

After examining tens of thousands of car owners’ custom-builds projects from numerous forums, we gathered the tire and rim sizes. Also, we created a helpful table with the largest tire sizes for every year.

We only provide you with tire sizes that do not cause any rubbing, require no fender trimming, and don’t need any changes to the factory suspension.

We`ve also created valuable tables that list the biggest tire sizes for each year. As I have mentioned before, these tire sizes from the table do not cause rubbing or require cutting the fenders or changing the factory suspension.

What Size Tire Can I Fit on a Stock Jeep Wrangler?

Tire sizes which fit a stock Jeep Wrangler can be different and depend on several things such as model, year and trim level of the Wrangler you have. A totally stock Jeep Wrangler can accommodate 33-inch tires without rubbing wheel wells or requiring additional modifications.

A 33-inch tire can be mounted on 16-18 inch wheels and needs no additional leveling or lift kit. Depending on your Wrangler’s rims, there are some tire size variations for different rims sizes: 285/75R16, 285/70R17, 275/70R18.

If you are willing to mount even larger tires on your vehicle, you`ll be pleased to hear it is possible. You may choose between 34 and 35-inch tires. A 34-inch tire best suits Jeep trims as JK, JK Base, Rubicon, Unlimited Rubicon, and Unlimited Sport S.

For example, 34.6×12.4 tire size suits best such trims as JK, JK Base and causes no rubbing of wheel wells or suspension components.

A 34.4×12.4 tire setup is great for Jeep models as: Rubicon, Unlimited Rubicon (or additionally 34.8×12.8), JK. Such size fitment needs no trimming or additional leveling/lift kits.

As for the 35-inch tire, it works perfectly on trims like JK, JK Base, Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited Rubicon, Unlimited Sport, Unlimited Sport S, Sport, Unlimited Sahara, JK Unlimited Sport, JK Unlimited Sahara, JK Sport JK Sahara, Unlimited Sahara 4xe, Unlimited Rubicon 4xe, Unlimited High Altitude 4xe, Unlimited Rubicon 392.

A tire size of 35×12.5 is the best option for the tremendous amount of Jeeps mentioned previously. It has two main advantages: it fits a stock Jeep Wrangler and makes your vehicle slightly higher than it was.

Analyzing various custom builds projects, we have spotted that some dedicated Jeepers managed to mount 37-inch tires on their stock vehicles. It may sound crazy, but as owners claim, they face no rubbing issues.

It is worth mentioning that a 37-inch tire (37×12.5) works only on the 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392.

What Size Tires Come on Stock Jeep Wrangler 20–inch wheels?

Jeep Wrangler doesn’t come with stock 20-inch rims from the factory, meaning there are no tire sizes.

What Biggest Tires Can Go on a Stock Jeep Wrangler with 18-inch Rims?

2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. Wheel parameters: 32.1″x10.8R18.

The maximum tire size for a stock Jeep Wrangler with 18-inch rims can differ due to your vehicle’s model and trim level. If you want a tire that won’t cause any rubbing or require you to trim, then a 33-inch tire is the biggest size.

However, for a 2021 stock Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara equipped with 18-inch rims a 32-inch tire or 275/65R18 is the largest size which causes no issues with the rubbing of wheel wells.

The Tallest Tires You Can Put on Stock Jeep Wrangler with 17-inch Rims

2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392. Wheel parameters: 37″x13.5R17.

The tallest tire size that can be mounted on a stock Jeep Wrangler with 17-inch rims depends on the vehicle’s specific model and trim level. The largest tire size that can be installed on a majority of Jeeps without any upgrades of the vehicle is a 33-inch tire size.

However, a custom 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392, which runs on 17-inch rims, can accommodate a 37-inch tire, the biggest size that can be applied on this vehicle running stock suspension.  More specifically, this would be 37×13.5R17.

What Is the Biggest Tire Option For My Wrangler?

The chart below lists the largest tire configurations for various rim diameters installed by enthusiasts on their modified Jeep SUVs.

All the tire and rim sizes shown in this table let you fit the largest tire with standard suspension without arch trimming or fenders rubbing, depending on the year of vehicle model manufacturing.

Can You Fit 33-inch Tires on a Stock Jeep Wrangler?

Yes, you can. A 33-inch tire can be mounted on a Jeep Wrangler without any side modifications or trimming.

Will 35-inch Tires Fit on a Stock Jeep Wrangler?

In most cases, a 35-inch tire won’t accommodate a Jeep without any upgrades to the suspension. However, as numerous custom-built projects show, a 35×12.5 tire can be applied to a significant amount of stock Jeeps of various trims without any issues.
