Goodyear Tires

The Goodyear Eagle GT II is a high-performance tire designed for all-season traction. It offers good dry and wet weather traction but may hydroplane in heavy rain. The tire is also usable in light snow but is not meant for more serious winter conditions. The Goodyear Eagle GT II has a nice treadwear lifespan and provides a smooth ride.

Goodyear Eagle GT II Tread Pattern & Technical Specs

For drivers of sports cars, coupes, performance pickups, and sport utility vehicles willing to mix traditional style with all-season traction, Goodyear invented the Performance All-Season tire known as the Eagle GT II. The Eagle GT II is made to provide consistent handling and traction in all weather situations, including dry, wet, and wintry conditions, even in light snow.

The Eagle GT II has an aggressive independent block tread shape with siped center tread blocks that offer hundreds of biting edges for light snow grip and strong shoulder tread blocks that are separated by full-depth lateral grooves to improve wet traction and cornering force.

Twin steel belts strengthened with nylon are included in the tire’s internal structure, along with polyester cord body plies for an improved riding experience.

The tire fits 20″ wheel and rim sizes which makes it a good choice for Chevy Silverado & Tahoe, RAM pickups, and many other vehicles.

The Eagle GT II is covered by a limited tread life warranty from Goodyear. The first 2/32 inch of wear or six months’ tire uniformity is guaranteed.

Wet Performance

The Goodyear Eagle GT II is a high-performance tire that offers good wet weather traction, but low hydroplaning resistance meaning that the tire may hydroplane under simple circumstances like passing through a puddle. The tire compound is quite hard, so it is not ideal for use in rain, so one has to be careful when driving on the Goodyear Eagle GT II.

Dry Performance

The Goodyear Eagle GT II is a nice tire for dry road conditions. It has an above-average grip around corners and handles well in the summer. On the dry pavement, the vehicle preserves stability and steering response. The Eagle GT II remains controllable without losing traction when cornering. Overall, the Goodyear Eagle GT II has a nice dry traction performance.

Comfort Performance

The Goodyear Eagle GT II is a good tire for those who are looking for a smooth ride and good handling. The tires wear well and provide a fair amount of comfort and responsive steering. However, the road noise can be heard at highway speeds.

Winter & Snow Performance

The Goodyear Eagle GT II is usable in minimal snow conditions. It performs well in light snow and ice but is not meant for harsher winter conditions. The winter traction is also not the strongest part of the Goodyear Eagle GT II.

Summary

The Goodyear Eagle GT II is a good all-around tire for those who are looking for stability, steering response, and a smooth ride. However, it is not the best choice for those who want excellent hydroplaning resistance or winter traction. It is also quite noisy at highway speeds. Nevertheless, the Eagle GT II has good treadwear and is applicable in light snow conditions.
