Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D Tread Pattern & Technical Specs

For sports vehicles, coupes, and sedans equipped from the factory with low-profile tires mounted on big diameter alloy wheels, Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D Performance Winter / Snow tires were created. They were made to give traction in the cold winter weather and to provide effectiveness on dry, wet, and snow-covered surfaces.

The reactive silica mixing technique used by Dunlop, the SP Winter Sport 3D’s tread compound can deliver great flexibility at low temperatures, providing reliable traction in winter driving situations.

This substance is molded into a directional tread pattern that minimizes the possibility of hydroplaning and assists in retaining good traction on slick and rainy roads.

In a single tire, three various high-density sipe types define three separate traction zones. To provide grip when accelerating and stopping, particularly on ice and snow, the central tread blocks have “pulling” sipes.

High-amplitude sipes are used in the intermediate blocks to improve longitudinal stability and control in slushy and wet conditions.

The 3D sipes in the shoulder blocks also interlock to improve handling and stability on dry roads while maintaining the suppleness required to grip snow and ice.

Twin steel belts reinforced by nylon JointLess Bands (JLB) from Dunlop are integrated into the SP Winter Sport 3D tire’s structure to enhance the contact patch and reduce tire deformation at high speeds.

The Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D winter/snow radials are marked with the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) and exceed the industry’s stringent snow service criteria.

It is highly recommended to install Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D tires in a set of four only.
