The Continental Max Performance Summer tire, known as the ExtremeContact Sport, is a tire designed for sports cars, performance sedans, and luxury car drivers seeking to combine maximum performance in the dry and wet with a smooth ride and noise comfort. The ExtremeContact Sport, like all summer tires, is not intended to be serviced, stored, or driven in any freezing temperatures on snow or ice.

The ExtremeContact Sport features Continental’s SportPlus Technology, which focuses on precise handling, wet traction, and long-lasting performance through an asymmetric design that incorporates a specialized summer-only compound molded into a five-rib (six-rib in some sizes).

The outside shoulder is designed with wide tread blocks for side grip and high-speed handling in mind, while the continuous center rib gives constant rubber-to-road contact for a solid on-center feel and an optimized footprint that distributes pressure across the face of the tire to extend tread life.

To provide grip in wet conditions, Continental`s patented +Silane tread compound is used. The hydroplaning risk is reduced thanks to deep, circumferential grooves which evacuate the oncoming water from the tire. Continental Extreme Contact Sport is equipped with helpful Performance Indicators, located in the tread pattern showing the tire`s applicability for use in dry or wet weather conditions.

The ExtremeContact Sport’s body construction is made up of a polyester or rayon cord (depending on size) casing and a two-ply sidewall design to provide side stiffness without sacrificing ride comfort. Two high-tensile steel belts are supported by the casing ply, which is reinforced with two spirally wound polyamide cap plies for high speed.

How long do Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires last?

The ExtremeContact Sport has a 6-year or 30,000-mile tread life warranty from Continental. If you use a different size on the rear than you do on the front, mileage is halved. Tire uniformity is also affected by one year or the first 2/32 inch of wear on tire uniformity.

Are Continental Extreme Contact Sport directional?

The Extreme Contact Sport tires are not unidirectional. The tires have markings indicating which side is “Outside,” and they can be placed on the left or right sides.
